Crown casion hits its jackpot with poker machines

GAMBLERS pumped $1.3 billion through Crown’s poker machines, card tables and hotels last financial year despite the economic gloom.

Its coffers were 6 per cent fuller with $433.3 million, despite smoking bans and a higher gaming machine levy.

Gamblers spent $801.8 million on the casino’s main floor poker machines, roulette wheels and blackjack tables.

Money from the VIP big stakes gamblers was down 3.5 per cent to $289.3 million.

With an average room rate of $294 at Crown Towers and $203 at Crown Promenade — and at least 90 per cent occupancy — non gaming revenue surged 8.1 per cent to $279.9 million.
